The High Commission for Planning reported that five regions in Morocco accounted for 72.5% of the total active population aged 15 and above during the third quarter of 2025.
The report indicated that the Casablanca-Settat region ranked first, comprising 22.9% of the total active population, followed by the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region (13.4%), Marrakech-Safi (12.7%), Fès-Meknès (12.1%), and Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima (11.4%).
According to the commission, four regions in Morocco recorded activity rates exceeding the national average of 43.3%. These are the Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima region (46.6%), Casablanca-Settat (46.6%), the southern regions (45.9%), and Fès-Meknès (43.5%).
Conversely, the lowest activity rates were recorded in the Drâa-Tafilalet region (36.8%), followed by Béni Mellal-Khénifra (39.7%), the Eastern region (39.7%), and Souss-Massa (41.1%).
In terms of unemployment, 73.2% of unemployed individuals are concentrated in five regions. The Casablanca-Settat region leads with 26.4%, followed by Fès-Meknès (14.2%), Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (13.7%), the Eastern region (10.4%), and Marrakech-Safi (8.5%).
The highest unemployment rates were observed in the southern regions (21.4%), the Eastern region (21.2%), Fès-Meknès (15.3%), and Casablanca-Settat (15.1%).
The lowest unemployment rates were found in the Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima, Marrakech-Safi, and Souss-Massa regions, at 8.6%, 8.7%, and 9.9%, respectively.
