Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser Bourita disclosed that King Mohammed VI personally intervened to persuade nations to vote in favor of a Security Council resolution that considers autonomy as the basis for negotiation.
On Sunday evening, Bourita stated that the current composition of the Security Council was extremely challenging, revealing that, five days before the vote, Morocco had confirmations from only six countries to vote in favor. This prompted King Mohammed VI to take direct action, engaging with heads of state and leaders, ultimately securing 11 votes in support.
