Steve Witkoff, a special envoy for Donald Trump, along with his son-in-law Jared Kushner, revealed their extensive efforts to broker a peace agreement between Morocco and Algeria in an exclusive interview aired on CBS’s “60 Minutes.”
Witkoff expressed his belief that a peace agreement between the two nations could be reached within 60 days, viewing it as “the next step” following the successful ceasefire agreement in Gaza between Israel and Hamas.
During the interview, broadcast on Sunday evening, Witkoff emphasized how peace has become “contagious” after the recent accord in Gaza, indicating that his team is currently focused on Morocco and Algeria. He stated, “We are currently working on Algeria and Morocco. In my opinion, there will be a peace agreement in 60 days.”
This remark comes amid a broader discussion on expanding peace efforts to other regions such as Ukraine and Iran, where negotiators believe that success in Gaza may pave the way for new opportunities.
