Sanitation Workers Protest in Tangier Against Arma’s Continued Violations of Their Social Rights

The Union Office for the Cleaners at Arma Company in Tangier announced protests starting Monday, October 20, in front of the municipal headquarters. Similar demonstrations are planned for Thursday, October 23, in front of the company’s management office located at Ibn Battuta shopping complex.

The union, affiliated with the Moroccan Labor Union, stated that these protests are in defense of the dignity of Arma’s cleaners and their legitimate right to improve their economic and social conditions.

In a denunciatory statement, the union indicated that it has exhausted all stages and procedures of social dialogue and attempts at amicable settlement regarding the increase in the basic salary by 5% every three years.

It noted that a series of official meetings were held, both at the Labor Inspection and the regional committee chaired by the district chief or the mayor of Tangier, yet a fair solution to this lingering issue, which directly affects the purchasing power of the cleaners, has not been found.

The union expressed deep regret over the lack of genuine will among the concerned parties to reach a just resolution to this social issue, prompting them to proceed with the protests to advocate for the rights of Arma’s cleaners.
