The Higher Council for Education, Training, and Scientific Research announced on Thursday, October 9, that King Mohammed VI has appointed Fouad Chafiki as the new Secretary-General of the Council, succeeding Aziz Qeshouh.
This appointment comes on the eve of a speech the King will deliver on Friday, October 10, during the opening of the first session of the fifth year of the eleventh legislative term.
It also coincides with demands raised by the “Generation Z” movement during protests in Morocco, which have been ongoing since September 27, calling for reforms in the education and health sectors in the Kingdom.
The Higher Council for Education, Training, and Scientific Research serves as an advisory body tasked with providing guidance on public policies and national issues related to education, training, and scientific research, as well as evaluating public programs in these areas.
