New Death of Recent Mother at Hospital Raises Investigation from Medical Committee

A recent mother died at Hassan II Hospital in Agadir on Tuesday, October 7, shortly after being transferred from Al-Mokhtar Soussi Hospital in Biougra.

In a clarifying statement, the regional health directorate of Souss-Massa reported that she was received in an emergency situation at the maternity ward in Biougra. She was attended to by a specialist in obstetrics and gynecology along with the nursing staff.

Following examination and assessment, it was decided that the woman required a cesarean section to ensure her safety and that of her newborn. The operation was conducted under appropriate conditions with oversight from the medical team.

After the delivery, the health directorate indicated that the woman experienced severe bleeding, necessitating a second surgical intervention at the same hospital. She was then urgently transferred to the intensive care unit at Hassan II Regional Hospital in Agadir, often referred to as the “death hospital.” However, her health continued to deteriorate despite all medical interventions, leading to her subsequent death.

Regarding the newborn, the statement noted that the baby is currently under continuous medical monitoring by the specialist team.

The Souss-Massa regional health directorate denied circulating claims on social media regarding the absence of specialist obstetricians at the hospital.

In contrast, the directorate confirmed that a medical and administrative committee has launched a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding this incident, aimed at determining accountability and taking necessary actions in accordance with relevant laws and procedures.
