Generation Z Demands Government Resignation as the EU Calls for Calm

Protests led by Generation Z in Morocco have emphasized their commitment to peaceful demonstrations, firmly rejecting any forms of violence, vandalism, or unrest.

In a message directed to King Mohammed VI, the protesters called for the resignation of the current government, citing its failure to protect the purchasing power of Moroccans. They also demanded social justice and a judicial process to hold accountable those involved in corruption and the embezzlement of public funds.

In response to Generation Z’s call for government resignation, the European Union urged all parties involved in the protests in Morocco to maintain calm. Anwar Al-Anouni, a spokesperson for the European Commission, acknowledged the importance of youth participation in public life and called for all stakeholders to ensure tranquility.

Meanwhile, Transparency Maroc accused public authorities of resorting to repression, arrests, and sham trials in handling the protests by Generation Z. The organization stated that the current government is unlikely to meet the aspirations of the people or uphold the constitution and the law.
