On Thursday, October 2, social media users in Morocco reported that local authorities in Casablanca issued orders to close businesses and evacuate workspaces in educational institutions. This coincided with calls for protests by Generation Z for the sixth consecutive day.
In response, the Casablanca regional authority stated that no such orders had been issued regarding the closure of businesses or early evacuation of workplaces in the city. They described these reports as false and condemned the spread of misleading information on social media, asserting that it aims to disrupt the peace of Casablanca residents.
In a related statement, the Maghreb Arab Press reported that its officials observed that all commercial establishments were operating normally in Casablanca. It noted that the same was true for several educational institutions, both in Casablanca and Rabat.
