Arrest Made of Individual Who Misrepresented Foreign Protests as Occurring in Morocco for Financial Gain

A person was arrested by authorities for posting videos of violent protests and attributing them to Morocco, coinciding with the protests on September 27 and 28, after creating a page for financial gain.

The Public Prosecutor at the Criminal Court in Casablanca announced on the evening of Monday, September 29, that following unauthorized protests in several cities across the Kingdom the previous Saturday, an individual was apprehended by judicial police. Investigations revealed that this individual managed several social media accounts and was posting images and videos of protests from other countries that experienced violence, merging them with scenes of protests within the national territory to incite people to demonstrate on September 27 and 28, 2025.

A statement from the Public Prosecutor’s office indicated that the judicial investigations also showed that the individual aimed to gather a large following, successfully attracting 4,000 followers to his social media accounts within three days, with a goal of reaching 20,000 followers. This would enable him to create a digital platform, emphasizing that his main interest lay in increasing followers rather than genuinely advocating for protests, seeking to profit from the endeavor.

Additionally, the statement noted that a search of the individual’s personal computer confirmed he possessed a collection of video clips from both past and recent protests in various foreign countries, which he repackaged and shared on his social media accounts to maximize views and followers.

Due to the severity of the offenses, the statement continued, the individual was placed under preliminary detention for the necessary investigation. Following his presentation to the public prosecutor, it was decided to prosecute him on suspicion of inciting criminal offenses using electronic means, which had later consequences, and to refer him to court while in custody.
