Morocco has imposed a temporary visa requirement on countries that are usually exempt, including Algeria and Tunisia, due to the organization of the Africa Cup. This decision specifically affects individuals under 55 years of age.
Royal Air Maroc has detailed the new travel procedures that will be implemented between September 25, 2025, and January 25, 2026. These procedures include the requirement to obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization (AEVM) for some travelers from visa-exempt countries.
Countries Subject to the Authorization
The measure targets citizens of the following countries: Algeria, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Gabon, Niger, Senegal, Togo, and Tunisia. Travelers from these nations will need to present the electronic authorization upon departure and arrival in Morocco during the specified period.
How to Apply for the Electronic Authorization
- For attending matches: Football fans can apply for the authorization through the “Yalla” application, affiliated with the Royal Moroccan Football Federation.
- For other travel purposes: Applications can be submitted via the online portal http://acces-maroc.ma and must be made at least 96 hours before travel, whether for tourism, business, or family visits.
Exempt Categories
The following groups are exempt from this requirement:
- Holders of diplomatic, service, private, or official passports.
- Residents in Morocco with a valid residence permit.
- Passengers transiting through Moroccan airports without leaving the international zone.
- Spouses of Moroccan citizens with proof of marriage.
- Individuals over 55 years of age.
Recommendations for Travelers
Royal Air Maroc emphasized that this measure is temporary and aims to regulate the flow of travelers during the continental event. Travelers are advised to ensure they complete the necessary procedures in advance to guarantee a smooth and hassle-free travel experience.
