The Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance, Abdellatif Hammouchi, is on a working visit to Turkey, leading a high-level security delegation. During this trip, he met with senior officials from security and intelligence agencies from Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Malaysia.
Hammouchi is attending the International Forum for Internal Security Equipment and Technological Innovations related to security, IGEF 2025, taking place in Ankara from September 18 to 20.
A statement from the General Directorate of National Security and the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance indicated that this visit is at the official invitation of Turkish authorities. Hammouchi discussed with his Turkish counterpart, Mehmet Demirtaş, the level and prospects of bilateral security cooperation and ways to enhance joint security operations to ensure stability and address shared security challenges.
The discussions also covered various security challenges faced by security services, including risks stemming from illegal immigration and its links to organized crime networks, as well as developing police training methodologies and investing in human resources to ensure future security needs are met.
Both parties also explored ways to contribute to upcoming international events that Morocco will host, including the 93rd General Assembly of INTERPOL in Marrakesh in November 2025, the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, and the 2030 FIFA World Cup, which Morocco will co-host with Portugal and Spain.
The meeting highlighted a strong alignment of views and a shared commitment to enhancing security cooperation mechanisms between Morocco and Turkey, and sharing expertise across various security domains, reflecting the strong bilateral relations.
During this visit, Hammouchi also held bilateral discussions with heads of delegations from several participating countries at the international exhibition for internal security equipment, including representatives from Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Malaysia.
The discussions addressed various levels and forms of security cooperation between these countries and Morocco, strategies to enhance partnerships in policing, as well as mutual threats and challenges.
Additionally, Hammouchi and his accompanying delegation visited the different sections of the IGEF 2025 exhibition, a global platform showcasing the latest technological developments and innovations in the security and defense sectors, taking place in Ankara.
The visit underscored the growing emphasis on strengthening and advancing international security cooperation mechanisms and enhancing bilateral and multilateral partnerships in law enforcement as an effective way to combat the international and regional extensions of terrorism and transnational organized crime risks.
