Omar Abbas stated that the fundamental change they aspire to in the world of football at the level of the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region is a change in the individuals running the league, who have been in power for 21 years.
During a press conference held hours before the general assembly of the league in Ksar al-Kebir on September 19, Abbas, a candidate for the presidency in competition with the “eternal president” Abdellatif Al-Afyah, emphasized the importance of change.
Abbas noted that the same person has led the league for 21 years and is now a candidate for a sixth term, despite organizational laws advocating for term limits of two terms only.
The candidate placed “change” at the forefront of his motivations for entering the race for the presidency of the league, indicating that holding the same position for extended periods leads to a “reinforcement of the same ideas” and places the official in a “comfort zone,” resisting any new developments or desires for improvement, endangering the field as a whole.
