Kiwis Win: New Zealander Outshines Soufiane El Bakkali

New Zealand athlete Geordie Beamish has won the world title in the 3000-meter steeplechase at the World Athletics Championships, surpassing Moroccan champion Soufiane El Bakkali.

Beamish, 28, achieved a record time of 8:33.88 minutes, outpacing El Bakkali, the world leader in this event.

The victory was particularly notable due to the challenges Beamish faced in the early rounds, where he experienced a dramatic fall during the heats after a competitor’s shoe struck his face, resulting in minor injuries.
