Hans Flick, head coach of Barcelona, the defending champions of La Liga, stated that the team must take better care of its players after forward Lamin Yamal sustained a thigh injury while playing for the national team.
Flick told reporters on Saturday that Lamin Yamal (18) will miss tomorrow’s home match against Valencia, and there are doubts about his availability for the UEFA Champions League match later this week against Newcastle United due to the injury.
“Lamin Yamal will not be available tomorrow; it’s unfortunate. He played with the national team despite the pain and was struggling with issues, playing 79 and 73 minutes and not training between matches because of this pain,” Flick explained.
Lamin Yamal widely regarded as one of Barcelona and Spain’s top players, missed training on Friday after complaining of discomfort.
Flick mentioned that Lamin Yamal was already dealing with an injury and took painkillers to participate with Spain.
The young player, who helped Spain win the European Championship last year, played a total of 152 minutes in two World Cup qualifiers against Bulgaria and Turkey last week, providing three assists.
