Morocco Plans to Establish ‘Judicial Committees’ Within Stadiums

Morocco plans to establish judicial committees within stadiums to swiftly address any potential offenses by fans during its joint hosting of the 2030 World Cup with Spain and Portugal, according to Justice Minister Abdel Latif Wahbi.

This initiative is part of a series of legal reforms being implemented in preparation for the tournament, aimed at preventing an overflow of minor cases in the courts.

Wahbi stated to Reuters, “Committees led by public prosecutors, in cooperation with judicial and security authorities within the stadiums, will handle incidents quickly while respecting due legal procedures.”

Morocco anticipates an increase in visitors, expecting to receive 26 million tourists by 2030, up from 17.4 million in 2024, owing to this global event.

The minister also mentioned that Morocco will sign a judicial cooperation agreement with Spain and Portugal to expedite the extradition of wanted individuals or the transfer of cases, and to provide mutual legal assistance.
