Some media outlets revealed Ghaytha Asfour’s identity, also suggesting Kenza Slimani’s name before it became widely known. Following unprecedented pressure on both, and amid widespread condemnation, it was decided to dismiss the case due to insufficient evidence.

Ghaytha Asfour, who has suffered the most from this defamation campaign, as she became the “main focus” of the incident, rejected calls for an apology and moving past the issue. She stated that what happened was a destruction of “an artist’s career and the image of the community.”

Kenza Slimani explicitly hinted at “suicide” in a lengthy post, threatening those who defamed her with “the court of God,” where “there is no influence, money, or connections.” She lamented, “My blood is on your conscience until the Day of Judgment. Farewell.”
Kenza, who is a journalist, emphasized that her stance stems from an understanding of the difficulty in changing a “deep-rooted news narrative” in people’s minds. She noted that this factor underscores the importance of training journalists in professional ethics to prevent such news from destroying lives.
