Towards an Increased Capacity for Tangier Stadium!

Development work on the Grand Stadium of Tangier appears set to continue indefinitely. During a recent media visit, it was revealed that there is a proposal to increase the stadium’s capacity from 75,000 to 90,000 seats in preparation for the World Cup.

Stadium officials told the official news agency that following a recent renovation costing 350 million dirhams, the stadium is expected to be ready by the end of September 2025. This timeline reflects delays from earlier statements made by Fouzi Lekjaa, president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, who first indicated the stadium would be completed in April, then revised that to early September.

Among the details disclosed during the visit, attended by social media activists and some media outlets, was a plan to boost seating capacity to 90,000. This plan, which has yet to be officially announced, may begin implementation in preparation for the 2030 World Cup.
