Sources from football clubs in the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region have expressed concerns about the potential involvement of MP Mohamed Simou, president of the Ksar al-Kebir commune, in the race for the presidency of the regional league.
These concerns stem from the lack of transparency regarding the location of the general assembly scheduled for September 19, amid reports suggesting a desire to hold the event in Ksar al-Kebir, away from Tangier, with the assistance of the MP. These reports have not yet been confirmed.
Meanwhile, club sources have described the attempt to organize the event outside of Tangier as perplexing, indicating that the move to relocate the gathering appears to be aimed at “secrecy for unclear reasons.”
Several members have pointed out that organizing the event this way and forcing collective transportation may pose security and logistical risks, emphasizing that Tangier is the only location capable of hosting the assembly due to its infrastructure.
Beyond security concerns, opponents of this idea argue that moving the assembly outside of Tangier undermines the principles of governance and proper spending, as relocating to areas like Ksar al-Kebir would impose additional expenses related to transporting workers and organizing committees, further burdening clubs that already face financial challenges.
Amid these developments, some observers have noted that many clubs have contacted the relevant authorities to halt plans to move the event outside of Tangier unless a convincing reason is provided to justify the decision.
