WhatsApp has announced the launch of a new feature called “Writing Assistant,” which utilizes artificial intelligence to help users compose and edit messages after they are created.
The “Writing Assistant” feature appears as a pencil icon within individual and group chats, allowing the AI to generate text suggestions with just a click.
The parent company, Meta, explained that this feature relies on Private Processing technology, enabling message refinement while preventing any external parties from accessing the content.
This technology is similar to Apple’s Private Cloud Compute system, which maintains conversation privacy through end-to-end encryption.
The feature targets various users, including small businesses that rely on WhatsApp for customer communication, helping them draft messages more quickly and professionally, as well as users looking to enhance their daily conversations.
Currently, the feature is available only in English, with plans to expand support to other languages later this year.
