Lille Negotiates with Rangers to Acquire Moroccan Striker Hamza Igman

Lille OSC has reopened negotiations for Moroccan striker Hamza Ighoudman with Scottish club Glasgow Rangers. This move aims to strengthen the team’s attacking line in the final days of the summer transfer window.

Despite a strong start from French star Olivier Giroud at Lille, scoring two goals in his first two league matches, the club’s management acknowledges the necessity of further reinforcing the forward position due to the challenging competitions ahead in both Ligue 1 and European fixtures.

Team coach Bruno Genesio expressed his desire for new signings, stating after the recent victory against Monaco, “I won’t discuss the transfer market now, but it’s clear we still need reinforcements. I will address this with club president Olivier Létang.”

Hamza Ighoudman, the young Moroccan forward, has been a priority for Lille since June, with the French club showing significant interest after monitoring his performance with Rangers. While advanced negotiations had previously stalled for weeks, the discussions have now resumed.

According to available information from media sources, Lille has yet to make an official offer, but this step is highly anticipated, especially as the player has expressed a strong desire to play in Ligue 1.

Ighoudman had an impressive season with Rangers last year, scoring 16 goals and providing three assists in 46 matches across all competitions. Although he has only played three matches this season, speculation arose recently regarding his absence from one game, with rumors suggesting he refused to come on as a substitute. However, sources close to the club clarified that his absence was due to an injury preventing him from participating.
