Dubai police thwarted the theft of a rare pink diamond valued at $25 million. The diamond carries a purity certification from leading international institutes specializing in diamond assessment and accreditation. This operation was dubbed “Pink Diamond.”
According to press sources, the Dubai police apprehended a gang of three individuals of Asian nationality attempting to steal the diamond. The gang had devised a professional plan that spanned over a year, including precise strategies to contact and lure the diamond’s owner, a diamond dealer.
The General Department of Criminal Investigations successfully disrupted the planned theft due to the efforts of specialized field teams and by employing advanced technologies and artificial intelligence systems. Authorities were able to determine the whereabouts of each gang member and apprehend them.
The diamond’s certification reveals it is classified as “Fancy Intense,” weighing 21.25 carats. It boasts a high degree of clarity and symmetrical dimensions. Additionally, its cut received an excellence rating, making it one of the rarest diamonds globally, thus making it exceedingly difficult to obtain one with such color and specifications.
