The General Directorate of Meteorology has announced an impending heatwave from today, Thursday, until next Sunday. Strong thunderstorms with localized hail and gusty winds are also expected across various regions of the country today.
In an orange alert bulletin, the Directorate indicated that temperatures are forecasted to reach between 44 and 47 degrees Celsius. This heat will affect the provinces of Tata, Taroudant, Assa-Zag, Smara, Oued Eddahab, Boujdour, and Aousserd.
Temperatures ranging from 40 to 44 degrees Celsius are anticipated in the provinces of Fkih Ben Salah, Beni Mellal, Qalaat Sraghna, Al Rahamna, Settat, Chichaoua, Marrakech, Youssoufia, Azilal, Al Haouz, Tan-Tan, Guelmim, and Laayoune, continuing from today through next Sunday.
Additionally, temperatures between 40 and 44 degrees are predicted from Friday to Sunday for the provinces of Essaouira, Safi, Sidi Bennour, Inzkan-Ait Melloul, Ait Baha, Agadir-Ida Ou Tanane, Tiznit, Sidi Ifni, and Tarfaya.
Furthermore, in an orange alert bulletin, the Directorate noted the potential for strong thunderstorms today from 1 PM to 11 PM. Rainfall amounts are expected to range between 20 and 35 mm in the provinces of Azilal, Boulemane, Ouarzazate, Taroudant, Taourirt, Jerada, Taza, Khénifra, Al Haouz, Ifrane, and Tinghir. For Tiznit, Midelt, Beni Mellal, and Tata, expected rainfall will be between 15 and 20 mm.
