New Heat Wave Begins Today

The National Meteorological Directorate has reported an expected heat wave from Wednesday to the upcoming Sunday. Strong thunderstorms with localized hail and wind gusts are also anticipated in several regions across the country today.

In an orange alert bulletin, the Directorate indicated that temperatures are expected to range between 44 and 47 degrees Celsius from Wednesday to Sunday. This forecast covers the provinces of Tata, Taroudant, Assa-Zag, Smara, Oued Ed-Dahab, Boujdour, and Osrad.

Additionally, temperatures between 40 and 44 degrees Celsius are expected in the provinces of Fqih Ben Salah, Beni Mellal, El Kelaa des Sraghna, Rahmani, Settat, Chichaoua, Marrakech, Youssoufia, Azilal, Al Haouz, Tan Tan, Kelaa and Laayoune from today until Sunday.

Temperatures between 40 and 44 degrees Celsius are also forecasted today in provinces such as Ouezzane, Meknes, Fez, Moulay Yacoub, Khouribga, Khemisset, Taza, Taounate, Jerada, Sefrou, and Khenifra.

Furthermore, the Directorate reported that temperatures are expected to range between 40 to 44 degrees from Friday to Sunday, affecting the provinces of Essaouira, Safi, Sidi Bennour, Inzgan, Ait Melloul, Chtouka-Ait Baha, Agadir-Ida Ou Tanane, Tiznit, Sidi Ifni, and Tafraout.

On another note, in the same orange alert bulletin, strong thunderstorms with localized hail and wind gusts are expected today from 1 PM to 10 PM. Rainfall amounts are forecasted to be between 20 and 40 mm in the provinces of Al Haouz, Taroudant, Ouarzazate, Azilal, and Tinghir. Rainfall amounts will be between 15 and 30 mm in the provinces of Boulemane, Sefrou, Taza, Khenifra, Chichaoua, Midelt, Al Hoceima, Jerada, Tawrirt, Jerrif, and El Kelaa des Sraghna.
