Son of Local Advisor Assaults Journalist at Latifa Raafat’s Concert in Tangier Over Video Dispute

A journalist was assaulted by the son of municipal advisor Abdel Wahid Boulaich on the evening of Tuesday, July 30, while attempting to cover an attack on a festival partner during a concert by Latifa Raafat.

Videos showed the advisor’s son specifically targeting the journalist after noticing him filming the assault on an elderly man. Boulaich’s son attempted to forcibly seize the journalist’s phone, resulting in injuries that required hospital treatment.

Though the initial motive appears to be an attempt to prevent documentation of the assault, sources close to the victim indicated that the attack was likely prompted by the journalist’s recent article criticizing Boulaich, titled “Boulaich with Three Hats: His Foundation, the Municipality, and the District… Will the Wali Intervene?”

It is noteworthy that a partner in the organization was subjected to a collective assault by organizers affiliated with the Greater Tangier Foundation, including the association’s president and advisor Abdel Wahid Boulaich. The assailants attempted to justify their actions by claiming that the “victim” had tried to remove the entertainers from the stage and insulted one of them by hitting him with a water bottle.

Instead of contacting the police to address the assault, the officials of the Greater Tangier Foundation collectively decided to attack the individual, as if living in a lawless era.
