A court of appeals in Tangier has convicted an herbalist and his wife on charges of enticing a minor and sexually assaulting her, revealing shocking details in the case.
### Verdict
The court sentenced the herbalist, identified as “R.A.,” to three years in prison following his conviction for enticing a minor and committing sexual assault. His wife, “A.M.,” received a suspended sentence of two years. Both were ordered to pay a compensation of 50,000 dirhams to the victim, referred to as “A.A.”
### Case Details
The case began when the herbalist’s wife lured a relative’s young girl under the pretext of offering her help, entertainment, and gifts. The wife facilitated the girl’s interaction with her husband, born in 1997, allowing them to take intimate photos together while justifying it as a means to provoke her boyfriend on social media.
This unusual relationship continued for some time before taking a dramatic turn during a family trip to the Moulay Abdel Salam region. After a night of festivities, the victim reported being assaulted after she fell asleep next to the couple. She claimed she awoke to find herself between them, with the herbalist molesting her while his wife looked on.
The situation was interrupted when a female relative entered the room and discovered the girl in a compromising position. Shocked, the relative intervened and called for help, leading to the involvement of authorities.
### Victim’s Statement Amid Denials
The minor explained her appearance in photos with the herbalist, taken inside his home where alcohol and shisha were present, by stating she had been emotionally deceived through the care and attention she received. In contrast, both the herbalist and his wife denied all accusations, claiming the case was fabricated by the minor’s mother, who they allege sought revenge for causing her divorce from her husband.
